Install the extension
SharedShoppingList works in Chrome and Edge (and other Chromium-based browsers).
info
The extension is live on the Chrome Web Store and works in Chrome, Edge, and other Chromium-based browsers via that listing.
Chrome / Chromium browsers
Add to Chrome
- Open the Chrome Web Store listing.
- Click Add to Chrome, then Add extension to confirm.
- Pin it: click the puzzle-piece Extensions icon in the toolbar, then the pin next to SharedShoppingList so it's always one click away.
Edge
Edge installs the extension straight from the Chrome Web Store:
- In Edge, open the Chrome Web Store listing.
- If prompted, click Allow extensions from other stores, then Add to Chrome → Add extension.
- Pin it from the Extensions icon so it stays visible.
What permissions does it ask for?
The extension is deliberately minimal:
- Storage — remembers your name, your lists, and the invite you pasted.
- The store sites (supported stores) — so the Add button can appear on product pages.
- The list's server — the extension asks permission to contact the server that stores your lists the first time you connect. That's the browser prompt you'll see after pasting an invite; approving it is expected. See Troubleshooting if you accidentally decline it.
